INTENNSE Week 1: Outriders 156 vs. Fortune 158

Fortune and the Outriders had a match defined by momentum swings. Both teams had stretches where they looked in control, and at one point the Outriders built a 22-point lead, but it never felt like either side was able to sustain consistent tennis for long. That was especially true on opening night, when everyone is still finding their rhythm and the match eventually shifted into doubles, where you really saw the teams come together.

In the final minutes, the format really took over. With the clock running and the pressure mounting, everyone knew it was going to come down to the final point. You could feel the tension in the serve faults, the emotions, and the pressure of the format on opening night. The players felt it, the crowd felt it, and it created an incredible finish.

Zoe Hammond stepped up in a difficult position on the backhand side, and Rafael came through with a volley winner. Jesse Flores also showed tremendous composure in a high-pressure moment, choosing a conservative shot to simply keep the ball in play and trust the point. That was really the story for both teams — nerves made it difficult to sustain rallies and keep the ball in play, and that’s what made the finish so compelling.

Tennis doesn’t usually give you that kind of finish, and that’s what made it so exciting.

We saw momentum swing back and forth throughout the night, and then Fortune found a way to come back in the final minute. In 2025, we saw comebacks from 22 points down that got close, but none that actually finished the job. So to open the season with a comeback like that was an incredible start.

FORTUNE PLAYER: JESSE FLORES Keys and I were definitely doubles, I mean, doubles in energy. We were down by almost 20 points, and the women's doubles team brought it back to under 10, and in mixed doubles we just took over. For myself, just be more solid. I mean, I'm gonna play a lot of minutes, so I just gotta get the cardio up, get the physical fitness up.
